Ignatius Palmari’s Italian restaurant closes for six months to relocate, so Iggy runs for Congress to pass the time, have fun, and most importantly settle an old score with his congressional incumbent. Despite his early belief in the impossibility of his task, his tenacity, a guerrilla campaign, and a sex scandal combine to propel him to victory.
Growing up in the Italian American neighborhood of Brooklyn in the sixties, he is short on finesse and education, but long on heart and guts. When he realizes the halls of Congress and the Brooklyn streets of his youth operate on the same principles, he rises to national prominence. As he progresses on his political journey, he finds his choices profoundly affect him and his family in ways he had never anticipated. Set in the mid-nineties, this story also reminds us that the more things change, the more things stay the same.
